AMM MULTI MEDIA FILTRATION SYSTEMS

Applications: Multi Media Filtration can be used on any water supply with excess turbidity, particulate matter, sand, silt, or rust particles. This style of filtration is capable of removing particles down to 20 microns in size. Particles and sediment trapped by the filter are flushed out periodically during the backwash process. There are no cartridges to throw away and very little maintenance to perform.

The Process works by utilizing 2 or 4 graded layers of granular filter media in a tank type filtration system. Each layer of the filter media has a different mesh size and specific gravity. As the water flows down through the media bed larger particles are trapped at the top of the bed and smaller particles are trapped at the bottom. Filtered water runs up from the bottom of the bed in a distributor tube in the center of the unit. An automatic backwashing procedure reverses the flow in the bed to flush out the trapped particles to a drain line.

Neutralization: Low pH, which is typical for Vancouver City water, is corrosive to copper plumbing and plumbing fixtures. An optional neutralizing media can be added to Multi Media Filtration Systems which raises the pH of the treated water and drastically reduces its corrosive tendencies. This translates into big savings (especially in large buildings) for maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and will prevent green staining of showers, tubs, and basins.
